1. Create Your FeedBlitz Account
If you have not already done so, register for your account at FeedBlitz by clicking here.
2. Log in to FeedBlitz
After you log in you will be on the Account tab. Click the "Mailings" button in the upper left green box, which takes you to the Newsletters tab.
3. Create a new Automatic Mailing
On the newsletters tab, click the "New Automatic List" button in the upper left green box. If you do not have green boxes visible, click the "New Mailing" yellow button in the left hand side bar, after which the option should appear.
If you need to start a trial you will be prompted to do so. Once you have started the trial, click the newsletters tab to re-start the import process from this step.
4. Select Import from FeedBurner
The FeedBurner import is the second option down in the main screen. Scroll down if you cannot see it.
5. Provide your FeedBurner log in credentials
FeedBlitz will use this data to access your FeedBurner data. This log in data is not kept by FeedBlitz, and no FeedBurner settings will be changed by FeedBlitz.
6. Pick the Feed to Import
Choose the feed whose email subscribers you want to transfer, and press the "Continue" button. This is an example screenshot; you will see your feeds instead. If no feeds appear please contact FeedBlitz technical support for advice; it will probably be because you have an older FeedBurner account and have not yet transitioned your FeedBurner account over to the full Google infrastructure.
7. Tell FeedBlitz where to save the email subscribers
If you have lists already defined in FeedBlitz, you can choose to add these new subscribers to that list (FeedBlitz de-duplicates if any of the imported subscribers are already on that list). If you use an existing list, only an import takes place. The existing lists's design and schedule are unchanged.
Alternatively, you can simply copy all your FeedBurner feed's details by picking the last option in the drop down called "-- Create a new Newsletter --" This option will import the subscribers AND the graphic design AND your FeedBurner mailing time zone and schedule preferences. If you are new to FeedBlitz, use this method as it configures the complete mailing in one fell swoop.
8. Start the Import
Click the "Import Now" button to begin. FeedBlitz will create and configure the new mailing list (if you chose to create a new newsletter) and import the subscribers.
You will be emailed when it completes - Subscribers do NOT have to opt in again.
9. Disable FeedBurner mailings and update the subscription form
Your subscribers will be activated in FeedBlitz as soon as they are imported, so once the import finishes you should go to feedburner.google.com and deactivate email subscriptions for the feed you selected at Publicize | Email Subscriptions | Deactivate. This will prevent your subscribers from getting the same updates twice (once from your new FeedBlitz mailing, and once from your FeedBurner feed).
Also, to prevent new subscribers accidentally joining the old FeedBurner mailing list, update your site with the FeedBlitz subscription form. Code for that can be generated at Newsletters | Forms | Subscription Forms. If some subscribers do find their way onto the FeedBurner list after this process, that is OK. Simply import again into the FeedBlitz version of your FeedBurner mailing list; FeedBlitz will de-duplicate and only new subscribers will be added.
